Dancing

Who are we?

Condor Performance Sport and Performance Psychologists is a select team of registered psychologists who specialise in the mental conditioning of sporting and performance teams and individuals throughout Australia and New Zealand.
We're neither clinical psychologists with "an interest in sport", nor are we "mind coaches".

We are, and always will be, sport psychologists.

Dancing

About a quarter of all our clients are dancers, dance teachers or performing artists and with our easy-to-use mental skills we help them to find their "mental edge" so many dancers look for but rarely find.

Of the many reasons that make dancing so psychologically demanding - the fact that your opportunities are chosen by others is probably the major challenge. Mentally tough dancers are much better at not letting outside distractions get in the way of their dreams. Some people are born this way, the rest of us have to learn how to think like this - and this is one of the areas that the Condor Performance team will target if you work with us. We will also teach you how to:

  • Control nerves and anxiety
  • Bounce back from a poor audition, training session or competition
  • Learn when it's important to concentrate and focus and when it's essential to switch off
  • Design effective physical, technical and mental practice - not just go through the motions
  • Balance dancing with life to prevent burnout
  • Stay motivated by picking the right kinds of goals (yes, there are many)
  • Learn how to think more accurately and less emotionally
  • Decide if you really have what it takes to make a living from dancing

If you're a dancer or dance instructor then you might like to contact us today for information about one of our upcoming free Q&A sessions. Fill in the enquiry form to the right and we'll be in touch as soon as we can.

The Condor Performance guys had a very positive impact on the young dancers at our studio. After their workshop on learning to control the controllables they seem to be dancing better and more comfortable in their own skin. See you next year. TQ (2009)
