Who are we?

Condor Performance Sport and Performance Psychologists is a select team of registered psychologists who specialise in the mental conditioning of sporting and performance teams and individuals throughout Australia and New Zealand.
We're neither clinical psychologists with "an interest in sport", nor are we "mind coaches".

We are, and always will be, sport psychologists.

Track and Field Athletics

Sometimes the simplest sports such as track and field athletics events can make people believe that there is no real need for sport psychology. Nothing could be further from the truth. At the highest level the differences between athletes' physical and technical abilities virtually disappear but there is still a big difference in the mental toughness of the winners and the losers.

At Condor Performance we teach athletes to be their own sport psychologists so that by the time we're finished with them they can do all of the below without us having to be there to hold their hand:

  • To control nerves and anxiety / help with the yips
  • To bounce back from a poor jump, throw, race or competition
  • To learn when it's important to concentrate and focus and when it's essential to switch off
  • To design effective physical, technical and mental practice - not just go through the motions
  • To balance athletics with life to prevent burnout
  • To stay motivated by picking the right kinds of goals (yes, there are many)
  • To learn how to think more accurately and less emotionally
  • To decide if you really have what it takes to make a living from athletics

If you're a track and field athlete or coach of any age or ability then you might like to contact us today for information about one of our upcoming free Q&A sessions. Fill in the enquiry form to the right and we'll be in touch as soon as we can.

Thanks for teaching me about why it's so important to focus on effort and let results take care of themselves. I now keep my heptathlon silver medal under my bed in a shoe box. OP (2008)
